Meet the Grandson!

World, say hello to Mr. David Christopher Pfurr of Clinton, New Jersey. David arrived March 30, in a flurry of excitement and quite a bit of uncomfortableness, including a C-section, - all ten pounds, four ounces of him. What a kid! This guy is ging to take Goliath on. A world-changer, for sure.

Mom is doing okay, but it was a rough go and she just got out of intensive care yesterday, praise God from whom all blessing flow. What a kid!

We're grabbing a plane for New Jersey tonight to spend some time getting to know him. What a kid! Oh, did I already say that?

Congratulations !! That´s wonderful. Now I feel almost guilty posting this, but I performed a movement from a Bach Sonata on TV last night. You can see it here: http://dagskra.ruv.is/streaming/sjonvarpid/?file=4301769/4 until April 17th. Unfortunately the last few seconds were cut off.

First off, as you already know, Congratulations!

I have a Kiva loan update I just received that I think is really cool so I want to share it:

This is an update on Hacienda Javital / Javital Farm (Freddy Pluas) written by Robert Edgar:

Mifex is happy to inform Kiva lenders that the loans for our first two communal banks in Santa Lucia have been disbursed. Earlier today the farmers made their way to Guayaquil in order to retrieve their checks and sign the contracts. Our staff once again explained the stipulations of a group loan to each member and helped them fill out the paperwork. The reading and writing skills of some of our clients were so limited they had to sign with a thumbprint after having the whole contract read to them out loud. Besides receiving the checks, the clients were most gratified by seeing themselves online from our offices. After showing them they were receiving support from all around the world, ranging from California to Belgium, they expressed their gratitude to the people who provided the lending capital. As a group they all pledged to invest the money wisely and repay on time. Want to see pictures of the event? Check out: Santa Lucia Communal Bank Pics http://picasaweb.google.com/MifexCredit

Kiva very much appreciates your responses online. You can read and respond to this journal online at:

Thanks for the link, Hannah. I loved those pics. What a day that must have been for the farmers of Santa Lucia.

Family matters: We got home from the hospital last night, bearing David Christopher. I didn't realize how serious Jenny's condition was until we got here. The docs did a 'Stet C-Section" delivery. I think that means 'emergency get that baby out right now' and Jenny is really cut up. The visiting nurse is here now to clean her wound. The docs won't stitch it up until it has 'seasoned' for five days.

They said if she had not been in an operating room with a team of doctors there, she and the baby would have died. But she was.

So - praise God, she's home and in her own bed with her own baby.

I want to make a donation in her name to an organization that is fighting against infant and mother mortality in places where there aren't enough - or any- operating rooms. But I don't which would be best. Any suggestions?

Hi there Pondering Pig ... I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter's problem with the delivery, and afterwords. I have never had a C-section, but after my son was born I was bleeding extensively and my blood pressure escalated so high I almost died; I remember laying there before they operated, just wanting to hold my baby. I have a link here that you might find interesting - it's actually for sponsorship, but I wanted to pass it along in any case: http://www.puebloapueblo.org/mc_sponsor.html I'll be keeping all of your family in my prayers.

Peggi, this org looks great. Jenny is a public health nurse, speaks fluent Spanish and much of her work is teaching pre-natal care to immigrants from Central American villages - people who have no clue how the US health system works. So it's a perfect match. Thanks!

Ari- I tried to look at your link just now, but it wouldn't download. Maybe because I have a dial-up connection- I don't know. But how exciting for you to have performed on TV. I hope it was a great experience for you. Congratulations!

Hi Pondering, I'm so glad your daughter is all right now. It's amazing what doctors can do! On a lighter note - I just loaned to Orn Oeun in Cambodia! It's the first loan from there I've seen in a very long time. Is it time to update our map?

Hey Ari, nice job on the Bach! Nothing was cut off when I watched it. I like that Sonata very much. I don't play it nearly as well, though.

OK, KIGsters, the map is updated to include Julia's Bolivia loan and Ari's Cambodia loan. Good job, all. Any other countries we're invested in that I have missed?

All my best to your family, Bro. Pig, and prayers too. I'm glad mom is OK. As normal as it is to have babies, it can still be scary sometimes, and I'm just the dad.

Ari, the Bach was great. Not cut off for me either.

Thoughts & prayers with Jenny & baby. Glad she lives in a place where women rarely die in childbirth.

Thanks for the links both to the Saint Luca banks and to the sponsorship. I like links.

I think we need to do a group loan to Azerbaijan, what do you think? At one point last night all loans but 2 were to there.

I hadn't read all the follow-up comments before I posted my rpevious comment.

I am glad that both mom and baby are OK now. Recovery from the cesarean may take a while, but, if I remember correctly, you are there, right?

Again congrats to all of the family.
