My Own personal History of the San Francisco Underground 1961-65
All the famous hippies emerged from Woody Guthrie workshirts like butterflies on May 14, 1965.
Except of course for one who
saw the old sun rising
golden gleaming intriguing from the
freight car door. He stepped out
of the box car
into the light,
and
wished all the rest of us
a merry good night.

Saw Cisco Huston in 64 though I was
But a wee lad. He was big and wore the furry cloak of maturity.
He was the man, the lingering spirit of the Woody years.
Cool they were, sad they're gone, all of them.
There were guys that rode the rails where I grew up, knew the
road of Woody,knew the
road of life.
When I was 10 I jumped a freight bound for St. Lou. They found me
sad,
crying,
alone in a boxcar.
I was 10 miles from home,
walked home,
got home,
before dinner.
I guess the muse calls many times but the true call isn't necessarily the first one.
more poetry, more poetry...etc. ad infinitum
