INDESTRUCTIBLE!

No more comment for Anita? Well, then I will hold the torch for the lady.

Heroin and Marijuana busts. Jailtime. Battles with Benny Goodman. Sing with Armstrong, Woody, Krupa, Monk...

What a full life.

It's fitting that she died with a recording this year. Maybe a lot of standard source songs, but not all standards in the mix.

Again, rest, sweet voice, in bop craziness.

Yeah, Chris Conner was great. Also June Christie and Annie Ross and all those other white Fifties jazz girls. Even Dinah Shore had her moments, believe it or not. I've got some stuff she recorded in the WWII era that is really good.
But you know what? This is Anita's moment, Anita's requiem, and Anita was one of the best.

I'm just lurking in my pen. Like a beatnik spider waiting for something tasty to happen.

The Ponderer as Bug Rogers from the old "Gordo" comic strip? He was definitely THE Beatnik spider for all time. Are you spinning your web in a pig pen? So many literary analogies in one short sentence, Mr. Spider - oops, I mean Mr. Pig!
