Different Than You
I've been wanting to follow Jesus so I looked to see what he suggests. I found this in the gospel of Luke chapter 6. It seems like a good place to start. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
So I made a list of what I want others to do to me so I would know how to behave.
Here it is...
Make me laugh.
Make my heart glad.
Play beautiful music that makes my eyes teary.
Write poems that help me see new things.
Take me places I've never been but I want to go to.
Let me be warm and contented and loved.
Help me on my way.
Oh yes, I also added a few don'ts. I'm not sure if they count.
Don't make me endure long sermons. My mind just wanders away to a campfire and stars above.
Don't make me feel like a Martian because I'm different than you.
Or bad because I don't do what you want.
Let me be me.
Doesn't sound very "Christian" somehow. But that's what I want others to do to me. So that's where I'm going to start. What's on your list?

one of the things on my list is be nice to me. also to wash your hands before touching my baby. and have tea and chocolate croissants with me and go hiking on mt. tam in the warm sun above the fog where the hills are gold.
I know this doesn't have anything to do with this blog, but I demand to hear the story of the attack of your mother's fur coat! I keep waiting and waiting!
